The route
The journey begins at the foot of the cathedral, whose pink sandstone spire has watched over the city for centuries. Then you slip into the lanes of Petite France, where half-timbered houses lean over the canals.
Along the quays the pace slows, and Antoine shares the stories that classic tours forget. Next, the university quarter, the formal French gardens of the Orangerie Park and the European institutions, all stone and glass.
The way back follows lesser-known paths, then crosses the Neustadt and its monumental buildings, before closing the loop in the heart of the city.
